Techcomlight Supports Sustainable Pig Farming with Powerdaylight® Tubular Daylighting Systems

Natural daylight, lower energy consumption, reduced COâ‚‚ emissions and compliance with modern animal welfare standards
The pig farming industry continues to face new challenges. Animal welfare, energy efficiency, climate targets and changing regulations require innovative and sustainable solutions. Since 2009, Techcomlight has been helping pig farmers meet these challenges with the Powerdaylight® tubular daylighting system, bringing natural daylight deep into livestock buildings without consuming electricity.
Natural daylight creates a healthier and more pleasant working environment for farmers while contributing to a better living environment for pigs. Today, Powerdaylight® systems are successfully installed in numerous pig farms throughout the Benelux and continue to support modern livestock housing.
Contributing to Climate Goals
Techcomlight is proud to contribute to KLIMREK, the sustainability and climate programme developed in cooperation with Boerenbond Belgium. The programme helps farmers identify practical measures that reduce their environmental impact while improving the sustainability of their businesses.
Introducing natural daylight into livestock buildings significantly reduces the need for artificial lighting during the day. This lowers electricity consumption, reduces operating costs and contributes directly to lower COâ‚‚ emissions.

Measured and Verified Carbon Footprint
Sustainability should be measurable.
Techcomlight has calculated its complete Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF), covering Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
In addition, a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) has been calculated for the Powerdaylight® tubular daylighting system. The assessment follows a cradle-to-gate plus end-of-life approach, analysing the environmental impact from raw material extraction, manufacturing and transport through to recycling and end-of-life processing.
These verified calculations provide architects, agricultural consultants, contractors and livestock farmers with transparent sustainability data for future-proof building projects.
New Animal Welfare Regulations Increase the Importance of Natural Daylight
As of 1 January 2025, new requirements apply to farms operating under the Beter Leven 1 Star animal welfare programme in the Netherlands. Following the end of the transition period for existing farms, natural daylight has become an even more important element in livestock housing design.
The Powerdaylight® tubular daylighting system offers a proven solution for both new-build and renovation projects, helping pig farmers comply with modern animal welfare requirements while reducing energy consumption.
